I’m more than happy to share that Winter ELMO Certificate-26 has started on 19.01 🙂
And it’s great to be part of that and to provide lectures during one of the weeks of this 10-week course, and to be together with people who are thinking in the same way.
Lifestyle medicine is not a fashion — it is real science that helps us create a healthier future and prevent diseases. It is about steps not only toward healthy aging, but also about maintaining a healthy lifestyle here and now, using several techniques and life hacks.
The idea is to improve both our environment and our habits, to cope with substance use, improve nutrition, manage stress, enjoy sleep, and improve sexual health in a supportive community. That’s why more and more MDs, health professionals, different supportive specialists, as well as people from all walks of life, are becoming interested in lifestyle medicine all around the world.
Lifestyle medicine is not a luxury — it is an opportunity for a healthy future.
The ELMO Certificate program, offered by the European Lifestyle Medicine Organization (in collaboration with the Belgian Lifestyle Medicine Organization), is an evidence-based online course. Over ten weeks, participants engage in 30 hours of live online sessions, choose flexible weekly time options, and work toward a final exam that combines theoretical knowledge with a practical lifestyle medicine case application.
This course stands out because it doesn’t just provide information — it builds clinical and practical skills. Participants learn how to communicate using Motivational Interviewing principles, how to support therapeutic lifestyle changes, and how to integrate lifestyle medicine into real practice settings. Importantly, the program also supports personal lifestyle transformation as a core part of becoming a better health professional, educator, or advisor.
What makes the ELMO Certificate truly unique is the community and professional network that forms around it. Graduates become part of a growing European network of lifestyle medicine practitioners — a supportive, multidisciplinary group committed to prevention, health promotion, and improving quality of life across populations. There are also opportunities to participate in podcasts, conferences, and even internships in clinical and educational settings.
The idea behind lifestyle medicine — and what we pursue together in the ELMO program — is holistic:
• To improve our environment and habits, so that daily choices support wellness and resilience.
• To cope with substance use not through judgment, but through understanding and support.
• To nourish ourselves with evidence-based nutrition, rather than trends.
• To manage stress effectively, enjoy restorative sleep, and nurture healthy relationships — all within a supportive community.
That’s why more and more MDs, health professionals, allied specialists, and people from all walks of life are drawn to lifestyle medicine worldwide: because it is practical, human-centered, and empowering. It provides tools to prevent disease, support healthy aging, and create meaningful changes that ripple through families, workplaces, and entire communities.
Lifestyle medicine is not a luxury — it is a real opportunity for a healthy future, rooted in science, strengthened by community, and lived through everyday choices. The ELMO Certificate reflects this ethos — transforming not only what we know, but how we live.
If you want to hear more about how lifestyle medicine is defined and applied in real life, a great way is to listen to Dr. Ioan Hanes talk about it himself. You can find his content and related posts here:
